Question #9

Question #9: Describe your Mother's wedding dress - what do you know about her wedding?

My Mom & Dad met when they were in high school. My Dad was a grade ahead of Mom. They dated pretty much on after they met, only being apart a few times. In January of my Mom's senior year (January 4th to be exact) they decided to elope in Elko. Yes, I said Elko. Funny huh. I think they were with another couple, but I am not really sure who. My Mom wore a winter white skirt suit. I was going to get a picture from her, but I forgot to grab it when I was at her house. My Dad just wore a suit. After my parent's were married (I'm not sure how soon after), my Dad joined the National Guard. My Mom said it was so tough having him away. After they were married a little while they decided to have a baby. It took a really long time. Things definitely did not come easy & they had some hardships along the way. That would be so devastating!! Finally they had my brother Bret. They were in heaven. They just loved finally having a baby. My Mom says she was sooooo protective of him. She said if people came over to see him, she would hold him up to the window to show him off. And she said she boiled everything! She just did not want anything to happen to her little guy. When Bret was seven, they finally had a baby girl. My sister Mindy. They were so thrilled with their new little one. After Mindy, they pretty much thought they were done having kids because it was so hard for them. When Mindy was a little over one, they had a little surprise...she was pregnant. My Mom could not believe it, when she told my Dad, he didn't believe her. He thought she was playing a joke. When I was born, Bret was nine & Mindy was just about two. While my Mom was pregnant with me, my parents were sealed in the temple (I am not sure what that dress looked like. I'll have to ask her). They had been married for 13 years. What an amazing thing. I am so thankful my parents made that decision. Now we can be a family forever. They just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. WOW! We decided on their 50th we are all going on a trip to either Hawaii or Mexico. Can't wait!! Love you Mom & Dad!!
