Question #3: Tell about home cures or old wives tales.

This question was really tough for me. I really don't know that many home cures. And a lot of the old wives tales I've heard are just funny. So I thought I would just write down everything I have ever heard. Some I have tried, others I have not. If you know of any, let me know. It is all just plain fun! Enjoy!

Home cures:
-Pour Hydrogen peroxide in ears to unclog them.
-Toothpaste or baking soda mixed with some water can be used for an ointment for burns.
-Peppermint lozenges can clear stuffy noses.
-For splinters, apply a drop of glue over the area & let dry. Then peel of the dried glue & the splinter should come out with the glue.
-For leg cramps rub a little cider vinegar on the muscle & it will take the cramp away.

Old Wives Tales:
-Don't swallow gum, it will stay in your stomach for seven years.
-Sucking your thumb will cause buck teeth.
-Toenails should be cut in a V to prevent ingrown nails.
-Sitting too close to the t.v. will make you go cross eyed.
- Don't read in the dark, you will go blind.
-If you carry an acorn around with you, you will have continued good luck & a long life.
-It has been said that the bells provide protection from demons as they are scared of the loud noise.
-Hanging a horseshoe above the door to any home will bring good luck to all who live there, just don't hang it upside down.
-You shouldn't jog. It jumbles up your insides. (I thought that was funny!)
-If you catch a falling leaf on the first day of fall, you will not get sick that whole winter.
-If you make a wish over a burning onion, it will come true.
-Use the same pencil for taking a test as was used for studying for the test & the pencil will remember the answers.
-Make a wish on the first robin you see in spring & it will come true-as long as you finish making the wish before the robin flies away.

Question #2

Question #2: Describe a favorite vacation of your married years.

I really have so many favorite vacation spots. It is so hard to choose. The cruise was awesome. St. George is always our go to place. But I would have to say that Disneyland is my favorite place to go (& California Adventures). We always have so much fun. Kobe is not the craziest about the D-land, but he is starting to like it a little better. Riley & I went there about two years ago just the two of us, & we absolutely had a ball. Riley loves the rides & I love the food. I can eat & eat & eat there. They have the best carmeled apples & waffle cones. Nothing beats them. We also have fun just people watching. We love it because everyone is so happy there. Everyone is coming from different parts of the world to just have a good time. We always go & spend a day at the beach when we're there too. It is just so relaxing. Riley likes to get out in the ocean, but me not so much. I like just to sit on the sand & relax. I love to watch Kobe build sand castles. He gets so creative. We love to walk up & down the coast & just pick up sea shells. I can't wait til we go back!! Another fun beach vacay we went on was like seven years ago. I was pregnant with Kobe, & we went & stayed in a beach house on the Oregon coast with Riley's family. We went crabbing, to an aquarium, golfing, to a lighthouse, & roasted marshmallows. So much fun. I hope we get to go that again someday. I can't wait til our next trip!!

Question #1

So this year I am going to try something new. Everyday (or as often as I can) I am going to answer different questions about myself & my life. I got all of these questions online & I thought it sounded kinda fun to do. Since I am not the best journal keeper, I thought this might make up for it.

Question #1: Tell something about each of your children - the personalities, talents, & traits that make them different & special.

This had got to be the best question ever. I just love my boy more than anything! Kobe is really the most caring little boy. He has the softest heart. He is always thinking about others. Kobe is six years old, going to be seven in March. He has the blondest hair (which I just love!) He hates to have his hair fixed, so we keep it super short. He loves sports. He is a way good swimmer. Kobe is scared/unsure of a lot of things. Very hesistant of people in costumes. He does not like loud noises. He loves to be active. He could go a mile a minute. Superheroes are his favorite thing in the world. He loves to play fight, being any superhero. He is really really good at swordfighting. (I am really not just saying that, he is incredible!) Everyone always tells us to put him in fencing. He loves to play video games. Me on the other hand, not so much. I would rather him play outside or something. He is very good in school. He loves to go fishing. He is always looking forward to our next family trip, even when we have nothing planned! When he grows up he wants to be a food critic or a cop. He is very patient & honest. He makes friends very easily. He wants everyone to just get along. He is like a sponge. Very smart. I really only have to tell him something once, & he absorbs it. It is amazing what there little brains know! He makes me proud every single day. I am so lucky to call him mine. I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father for sending me him. Kobe just makes us so happy!!

Holiday Season

We had a great Christmas & New Year. It seems like we were busy every minute! There were just so many fun things to do. We were so excited that my sister & her family came in town for Christmas. Kobe was sooo happy to have Riley to play with. The only sad thing is when he has to say goodbye. It just breaks his little heart! So sad. Kobe & Riley each made there own gingerbread houses & they looked so great. What talanted little guys they are! Very creative! It was fun to see how different they each made there houses. We had our annual Christmas Eve party with the Shaw's & it was a blast! The white elephants were hilarious. Who would have thought the most wanted piece would be a snuggie. So funny! We spent Christmas day with my family. Riley had to work at the fire station. But we went over & hung out for a little while. At my Mom's we played games & ate all day long. There was just way too much good food!! On New Year's Eve we went to my cousin Jeremy & Christy's house. The par-tay was off the hook y'all!! (As Kobe would say!) We all had a great time! Kobe had so much fun with all his cousins. Karoke was so great. I skipped out on the singing this year because I was a little hoarse from a sinus infection, but next year I'll be back with a vengeance! I really must say that I am really excited for a fresh new year. I hope this year goes better than last for my whole family. We are all ready for some light!! I hope everyone has a safe, happy, & prosperous new year!

Star Student

For the week of Sept. 21st, Kobe got to be the Star Student in his class. He was so excited. All week Miss LeSueur would read 2 or 3 things about Kobe & the other students guessed who they thought it was. Kobe & I decorated a poster about him. He loves Star Wars, so we decided to make the poster a Star Wars theme. He worked so hard on it! On Friday, I was able to go into the classroom. Kobe told all about his poster & I read the class his favorite book "Do Pirates Take Baths". Everyone laughed & loved the story. After the story Kobe handed out glazed donuts to the class. They were so yummy! Kobe just loves his class. And we couldn't have asked for a better teacher. Some of the things we told about Kobe are:
